Title Presenter Presentation
NWS Local Tropical Operations (abstract)

While Tropical Cyclone Forecast Centers (e.g., NHC, CPHC, other WMO RSMCs, and JTWC) provide tropical cyclone track and intensity forecasts, the local NWS offices are charged with providing detailed forecasts for tropical cyclone hazards to help partners and the public make decisions to protect life and property.  These local offices must make rainfall, water level, cloud cover, and many other forecasts through 7 days that are consistent with the tropical cyclone forecasts, even in cases when the models available to them for these parameters do not reflect the official tropical cyclone forecast.  Jessica Schauer, the NWS Tropical Services Program Manager, will provide a presentation that discusses the modeling and messaging challenges of local forecast offices during tropical operations.
